[4.25.01 - 12:49 AM ] Just got back from Sectionals. I guess I should be more specific: Sectionals is a college tournament for ultimate frisbee. It's kind of the playoffs of ultimate. It goes from sectionals, to regionals, and (if you qualify) then nationals. We did pretty good this weekend. We kind of messed up on saturday: losing to Cal Poly 13- 11, but we came back strong on sunday and we beat Cal Poly 15- 10 for second place. Anyway, I'm pretty darn tired and sore. It's a good sore though, to have every muscle in your legs hurt a little bit, makes you feel like you accomplished a lot. I think i'm feeling good too because I had a real good time this weekend. I haven't had a good time playing ultimate for a while. I guess it's because last year was tough. See, last year, I made the A team (kind of like the varsity team) and I didn't get to play much, and it really was hard to practice, play, and then have to watch at tournaments. Though it was really hard, (and I almost quit the team) having very little playing time last year has made me a better player, and maybe a better person this year. I've really learned to appreciate the PT (playing time) that i get now, and also to just appreciate the whole concept of being on a team together. I probably feel this way because sectionals was my last road trip with the team, and it was my 2nd to last tournament with the Squids. I hope all of this ultimate talk isn't too boring. It's just that it's been a pretty big part of my life for the past 4 years. Starting from freshman year, to now in my senior year, i've spent countless hours practicing, throwing, traveling to tourneys, and hanging out with teammates. Lots of good times - and hopefully some more to come. ___________________________________________ | previous | journal (i need a good name) |next | |
