[10.6.2001 Saturday] I went to see the A's play the Angels at Edison field in Anaheim today. Me, Mike Ong, Matt Teng, BC, and Johnny 5 went up to Anaheim together. We paid for these cheap seats in the outfield, but we ended up sitting real close to the field: five rows up from the A's dugout. Man, it's the closest I've ever been at a baseball game. Some funny stuff happened at the game: We were pretty boisterous, cheering for the A's and even doing the home - team A's cheers. There was this old guy and his wife sitting in front of us, and I think they were pretty much hardcore Angels fans - the guy was listening the radio broadcast on his headphones and the wife had and Angel's t-shirt on. They were pretty irritated with us because they kept looking back at us: giving us the glare whenever we did our cheers (dum - dum dum-dum-dum, let's go Oakland!). Eventually, the two moved away from us. --- We were also cheering for Jermaine Dye (one the A's outfielders) the whole game. He kept ignoring us, so we yelled: "You've got 6 more innings! You can't ignore us for that long!" He did. --- BC kept asking for Johnny Damon (another A's outfielder) for a baseball. So, Johnny D goes into the dugout, gets a ball, and tosses right to BC (who is sitting next to me). BC misses the catch, goes down to the floor the ground scrambling to get it, and comes up with the ball. Meanwhile, we're all laughing at him because he missed the catch in the first place. Good thing he caught it, or he'd be hearing it from the rest of us for a long time. --- That's about it. There were a couple more good stories, but I think those were the best. Being so close to the field was totally awesome. On a side note, go to Burger King: they're giving away Simpson's toys with their Big Kids meals. Go A's! ___________________________________________ | previous | journal (i need a good name) | next | |
